Overview
Hemera is a companion app for Home Assistant. It connects directly to a Home Assistant server that you provide and control. We do not operate any servers or services on your behalf.
Hemera is open source under the MIT License — you can review the source code to verify these privacy claims yourself.
Data Collection
Hemera does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to us or any third party.
Network Communication
All network communication occurs exclusively between your device and the Home Assistant server you configure. This includes:
- WebSocket connections for real-time device state updates
- REST API calls for retrieving area and entity information
- Service calls for controlling your smart home devices
No data from these communications is sent anywhere other than your own Home Assistant instance.
Local Storage
Hemera stores the following data locally on your device:
- Your Home Assistant server URL and authentication token (stored securely in the device Keychain)
- Entity and area data synced from your Home Assistant instance
- Your dashboard layout preferences
This data never leaves your device except to communicate with your Home Assistant server.
Third-Party Services
Hemera does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
Tracking
Hemera does not track you across other apps or websites.
Children’s Privacy
Hemera does not knowingly collect any information from children.
